have you ever been so stressed and exhausted that sleep doesn’t even work?
that was me a few weeks ago.
so, in what can only be described as completely unqualified medical advice, i booked four nights on the nsw mid north coast, packed the car and left.
no huge itinerary. no pressure to make the most of every minute. just jimmy’s beach, seal rocks and bonny hills, with a lot of ocean, wine, cheese and lying around doing absolutely nothing.
and honestly, i needed it more than i realised.
one of the biggest things for me when i’m travelling alone is feeling safe. it doesn’t matter how beautiful somewhere is, if i don’t feel comfortable there, i’m not going to relax.
i genuinely think reflections holiday parks is leading the way when it comes to making solo women travellers feel safe. they recognise that more and more women are choosing to travel alone, and they’re getting ahead of the game by actually thinking about what we need.
safe, well looked after locations. accommodation that feels private without feeling isolated. friendly people around if you need them. and places where arriving alone doesn’t feel strange or like you’re an afterthought.
it sounds simple, but it makes such a difference. i felt completely safe at jimmy’s beach, seal rocks and bonny hills, which meant i could actually switch off and enjoy being there.
did four nights away fix everything? obviously not.
but somewhere between the rain at seal rocks, walking down to the beach at bonny hills and drinking wine on a deck with absolutely nowhere else to be, i started feeling like myself again.
you don’t always need a huge overseas trip or a perfectly planned holiday. sometimes you just need to book somewhere near the water, get in the car and go.
that’s my completely unqualified remedy anyway.
